With United States Geological Survey since 1904, in charge various districts, for purpose of studying surface run-off for power, irrigation, flood protection and municipal water supply, Minnesota, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and South Dakot, since 1906.

Federal representative Wyoming-Idaho Boundary Commission, 1931. Special investigation, since 1948.
