Began professional career in Australia (birthplace) in management consulting, gaining diverse experience in multiple markets, including USA, UK, Italy, Greece, Belgium, and France. In 1967 Robert worked as a Senior in Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. Robert worked as a Supervising senior in Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company in London, United Kingdom from 1967 to 1968. In this year he was a Supervisor in Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company in New York City, United States and Rome, Italy. he held this position until 1969. From 1969 to 1974 he worked as a Manager in Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company in Athens, Greece. In this year he became a Senior Manager in Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company in Brussels, Belgium. He held this position until 1977. In this year he was an Area Director in Alcon Laboratories in Brussels, Belgium. Initially employed by Alcon Laboratories in Europe, Roberts career with Alcon spanned twenty years, holding a number of senior leadership roles in international locations eventually achieving the position of Executive Vice President & Member of the Board, Alcon Laboratories Inc. and Vice Chairman, Alcon Surgical Inc.

With Alcon, Corporate responsibilities carried worldwide application including Acquisitions & Divestitures; Legal & Patents; Information Technology; Human Resources & Industrial Relations; Materials Management; Finance, Treasury, Tax & Control; and crossing Corporate Strategy, Business Operations, & Business Development,

Alcon, listed on NYSE to establish market value, was acquired by Novartis, for $60 Billion, and established as the 2nd largest Division within Novartis.

Following retirement from Alcon, involved in high-level Project Leadership roles, Capital Raising's and Board Positions across the Biotechnology, Manufacturing, and Internet, including Chiron (project leader in the sale of Diagnostics Business to Bayer for over $1 Billion); Chairman Concourse Group; Board Member of Visx & Ryder et al.
