Career
After finishing the Divinity course at Edinburgh University, was ordained in the [rish Presbyterian Church as minister at Anaghlone, Company Down. Continued the study of Semitic languages, taking the highest prizes in Dublin University, also Honours and the Houghton Syriac Prize at Oxford. Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament Exegesis in New College, Edinburgh, since 1905.
