When his other older brothers Richard and Thomas died without heirs, Grosvenor succeeded to the baronetcy in 1733. He was educated at Eton College, then at Brasenose College, Oxford, and the Inner Temple. Initially they lived in Somerset, but when Grosvenor succeeded to the baronetcy, they moved to the family home at Eaton Hall, Cheshire.
Richard, the 7th Baronet, would be made Earl Grosvenor in 1784.
