Sutton received his Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Psychology from The University of Michigan and has served on the Stanford faculty since 1983.
Sutton is also a best-selling author and speaker. He has taught at the Haas Business School and was a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences during the 1986-1987, 1994-1995, and 2002-2003 academic years. Nowadays he is an IDEO Fellow and a Professor of Organizational Behavior, by courtesy, at Stanford Graduate School of Business.
