Founded as a father and son general local practice law firm prior to 1900, the present successor partnership dates from July 1, 1971, when the firms of Butler, Chapman & Morgan merged with Means, Evins, Browne & Hamilton.
Expansion into specialized areas of law brought representation of clients in Greenville, Union and Cherokee Counties and before state and federal agencies in Columbia from the office of the firm in Spartanburg. Principal representation has expanded to include corporate, banking, commercial, business, estate planning and probate, utilities, construction, products liability, workers" compensation, medical malpractice, debtor/creditor, domestic relations, and criminal law, and trials in all courts and administrative forums. The partners and associates participate in professional, governmental, political and community affairs, and actively provide leadership in all such areas.
