FROUDE, Robert Edmund was born on December 22, 1846 in Devonshire. 3rd son of William Froude, Commander of Order of Leopold, Fellow of the Royal Society, n. of Hurrell Froude of the Oxford Tract Movement, and James Anthony Froude the historian.
Studied at Bradfield College, Berkshire. Oratory School, Edgbaston, Birmingham. Civil Engineer.
Served under his father, Admiralty Experiment Works, then at Torquay, 1871-1879. Superintendent Admiralty Experiment Works, Haslar, Gosport, since 1879.
Fellow of the Royal Society. Club: Athenaeum.
