"Christian Believing" is an outline and introduction to basic Christian belief and practices written for the average lay person. The Rev. Robert Elwin Terwilliger (1917-1991) was the retired Suffragan , or assistant bishop, of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas from 1976 until his retirement in 1986. Before that he served nine years as director of Trinity Institute, a center for continuing education for clergy at Trinity Church in Manhattan, and was also a professor at the General Theological Seminary. He was ordained a priest in 1943 and served in parishes in Massachusetts, Connecticut, California and New York. He wrote or co-wrote four books on religion, including "Christian Believing" and "To Be a Priest."
