Robert Hames Cox, American Chemist, scientific consultant. Achievements include patents for drugs (sympatholytics/cycloplegics) and medical devices including hemodialysis; conducted practical synthesis of suberone precursor of early antihypertensive, guanethidine; early evaluation (1940s) of oxidized cholesterols in etiology of experimental atherosclerosis. Recipient Roberts medal Ontario College Pharmacy, 1955, George E. Parke medal, 1957.
