As resources become more scarce decisions involved in the allocation of a budget become more difficult. Inaccurate data or lack of data add to these difficulties. Such problems - insufficient information and limited resources - are common to most organizations. These, and related issues are the concern of this book. Developed with the business student and analyst in the book combines existing techniques with some new ones to provide a computer based approach to a range of common business problems. The emphasis being on practical applications and solutions. Assuming only an elementary knowledge of computers - in most cases no more than a basic understanding of mathematics - the book is suitable for any manager or executive who has access to a PC and equally will be of interest to business students. The solution methods are fully explained and the reader is encouraged to apply each technique to a practical problem of his or her own experience. All the programs are provided on the accompanying diskettes. The programs have been developed on an IBM-PC using MS-DOS 2.10 along with IBM BASIC and Microsoft FORTRAN.
