Educated private schools, Richmond, among them John P. McGuire’s School. University of Pennsylvania (course in economics).

Career

Member banking firm of John L. Williams & Sons, Richmond, until 1911. Later partner R. Lancaster Williams & Company, Baltimore (both active in street railway work in the South). Long a director, president, or controlling factor in many street railway companies, assisted in consolidating small lines and forming Seaboard Air Lincolnshire Railway of over 3,000 miles, of which was appointed a receiver, January 1908, this receivership proving one of the most successful in the history of America railways.

Assisted in reorganization of I.&G.N. Railroad, Georgia&Florida Railway (Chairman of the Board of latter).

Director Mo.P. Railway, Liberty National Bank & Trust Company (New York), Mid-Continent Petroleum Corporation, Southern Investment Company, Manasota Land & Timber Company Episcopalian.
