WEIGHTON, Robert Lunan was born in May 1851 in near Montrose, N.B. Son of David Weighton of Brax, Arbroath, N.B., and Elizabeth Grant.

Education

Studied at University of Edinburgh. Master of Arts; Doctor of Science.

Career

After graduating, served five years’ pupilage to engineering with Messrs. Rait and Lindsay, Cranstonhill Foundry, Glasgow. Draughtsman with Mr. David Rowan, engineer, Glasgow.

Chief draughtsman with Messrs. A. and J. Inglis, engineers and shipbuilders, Glasgow. Chief draughtsman with Messrs.

Hawthorn, Leslie, and Company, engineers and shipbuilders, Newcastle - upon - Tyne. Professor of Engineering, Armstrong College (late Durham College of Science), Newcastle-upon-Tyne, since 1891.
