Career
Emigrated to Victoria, 1854. Elected M.L.A. for St. Kilda, 1873. For Boroondara, 1877.
As joint leader of the Conservative 1 opposition in 1881, he helped to carry Sir B. O’Loghlen’s vote of want of confidence in the Berry Ministry—but did not take office. Appointed Agent-General for Victoria in London, 1882. Renewed in 1885.
Returned to Victoria, 1886.
Elected member for Hawthorn, 1894, 1897. Recreat ion: literature. ; one of the leaders of Constitutional Party in Victoria; a Trustee of the Melbourne Argus; Trustee of Public Library.
