Simpson, Robert Tennent was born on June 5, 1837 in Florence, Alabama, United States. Son of John and Margaret (Patton) Simpson.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, Princeton, 1857, A.M., 1887. Bachelor of Laws, Cumberland U., Lebanon, Tennessee, 1859.

Career

Began practice at Des Arc, Arkansas, 1859. Entered C.S.A. as private 4th Alabama Regiment, April 1861. In service during entire war, until paroled as captain 63d Alabama Regiment, May 10, 1865.

Practiced at Camden, Alabama, 1865-1870, at Florence, 1870-1904. Member Alabama House of Representatives, 1882-1883 and 1903, Senate, 1884-1887. Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama, since 1904.

Director Alabama Trust and Savings Bank, Florence.
