Ashmore, Robert Thomas was born on February 22, 1904 in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States. Son of John Thomas and Lena (Smith) Ashmore.

Practiced in, Greenville, South Carolina., from 1928;prosecuting attorney, Greenville County Court, 1930-1952;member, 83d-90th congresses from 4th South Carolina. District, Washington, 1953-1968;private practice,, Greenville, from 1969.
