Member of the Stock Exchange, 1872. Dinner chairman of Benevolent Fund, 1895. Member of the General Purposes Committee, 1895.
Benevolent Fund Committee, 1896. Queen’s Edinburgh Rifle Volunteers, 1859-1866. Ensign London Irish Rifles, 1872.
Promoted to Lieutenant, Captain, and Major, and retired with rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and right to wear the uniform, 1891. Erected, endowed, and presented, the Inglis Memorial Hall, Edzell, with 8500 volume Library and Parish Council Rooms, 1898. Built and endowed the Rifle and Revolver Club, Borers’Passage, Devonshire Square, E., for use of the Stock Exchange Rifle Club, and the city banks rifle clubs, insurance offices, etc., 1903-1904.
