The original version of this book arose from a course we had given for many years. We believe that it was well appreciated at the time, but eventually it fell out of print. With the passage of time, publishing has changed, with the e-book now a well-established alternative to the physical book. Molecular electromagnetism has not changed significantly – it deals with fundamentals that remain valid – but its practical applications have burgeoned, extending to whole new areas such as organic electronics and the manipulation and study of single molecules. We have been encouraged by these trends to produce this electronic edition of Molecular Electromagnetism, and have taken the opportunity to correct some errors and infelicities in the original edition.
