Fellow, 1868; Professor of Latin, 1871. Regius Professor of Greek, Dublin, 1880-1898. Senior Tutor and Public Orator, 1899.
Professor of Ancient History, 1900-1904, which with other offices he resigned on being co-opted as one of the Senior Fellows and appointed Registrar, April 1904. One of the original Fifty Fellows of the British Academy. One of the Commissioners of Education in Ireland, 1881. Dublin, Cambridge, and Durham; and St. Andrews; Oxford; Fellow of Trinity College, Dublin.
