Roberto Ferri was born in Taranto in 1978.
In 1996 Roberto graduated from the Lisippo art high school in Taranto. Then he began studying painting on his own. In 2006 he earned his degree, with the highest grade, from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, in the Stage Design course. During his first three years, he studied with Gaetano Castelli and his last year with Francesco Zito.
After moving to Rome in 1999, Roberto Ferri embarked upon an in-depth analysis of antique painting, from the early sixteenth to the late nineteenth century. In particular, he began dedicating himself to the art of Caravaggio and the academic painters, such as Jaques-Louis David, Jean Auguste, Dominique Ingres, Anne-Louis Girodet, Jean -Louis Theodore Gericault, Charles Gleyre, and William-Adolfe Bouguereau. In 2002 he held his first exhibition, the group show Animali e Dei, at La Galleria Il Labirinto in Rome.
In 2003 Roberto had his first solo exhibition "Roberto Ferri and the dream of Parnasus", at the Centro d' Arte Contemporanea at Genzano di Roma. That exhibition traveled to the Galleria Il Labirinto in Rome and was curated by the art critic and historian Robertomaria Siena. In the same year, the exhibition "Angels, Demons, and Archons" was organized by the Galleria Il Labirinto in Rome. Ferri's works were on display at the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro in Rome, and he participated in the Theleton campaign.
In 2004 he was at the Galleria Il Labirinto in Rome, where was his solo exhibition curated by Robertomaria Siena and entitled "Roberto Ferri and the Light of the body." He also participated in the second edition of the "Notte Bianca" displaying his work at the Academy of Fine Arts.
In June 2006 there was his solo exhibition at the Galleria Il Cortile in Rome. Roberto Ferri also took part in the "Arte interrazza" event, held at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, with a debate on the canons of his painting. The same year he participated in the 7th edition of "Immagina Arte in Fiera" in Reggio Emilia. His work, "The Ferryman", was published in the book "Inattuali Furori", by Robertomaria Siena. An exhibition of his drawings was installed in the United States at the AnArte Gallery in San Antonio Texas. A few of his works were also shown in Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, for the "Toscana Festival" presentation. Roberto also took part in the "Tribute to Luigi Montanarini" exhibition at the Galleria Vittoria on Via Margutta, in Rome.
The year 2007 was marked by an exhibition in Viterbo, at the Palazzo dei Priori, for the "Tuscia Opera Festival" as well as a solo show of his drawings, curated by Robertomaria Siena at the Galleria RDF in Rome. In New York, he took part in the Flesh and Passion group exhibition, at the CFM Gallery. For the Duomo di Montepulciano, in the province of Siena, he executed the painting "Decapited Saint John." At the Galleria Vittoria on Via Margutta, in Rome, he participated in the "A piu' voci" group event, curated by Robertomaria Siena.
Ferri's works are included in prestigious private collections in Rome, Milan, London, Paris, New York, Madrid, Barcelona, Miami, San Antonio (Texas), Qatar, Dublin, Boston, Malta and the Castle of Menerbes in Provence.
