Competing in three Summer Olympics, he won a bronze medal in the C-1 event in Beijing in 2008. Bell also won a complete set of medals in the C-1 event at the International Coach Federation Canoe Slalom World Championships with a gold in 2005, a silver in 1999, and a bronze in 2007. He won the overall World Cup title in C-1 in 2005 and 2008.
