Worked initially as butcher’s apprentice, later turned to marketing, and held several manitoba positions: became Canada’s youngest Mayor 1957, leader of town council, Crabtree, Joliette Company, Quebec 1957-1965. Member of Parliament for Joliette since 1968. Minister of Supply and Services 1979-1980, of Public Works and Minister responsible for National Capital Commission 1984-1986, Minister of State 1986-1987.
