Boiman graduated in 1998 from Saint Xavier High School in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Notre Dame. During his stay at Notre Dame, he played all four years and was a starting linebacker his junior and senior years.
He was a fan favorite for his intensity and tackling ability.

Boiman was selected in the fourth round (133rd overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, for whom he played linebacker.
He earned the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. His role increased as a linebacker during his second and third seasons with the Titans and he earned one AFC Defensive Player of The Week award.
His most productive season with the Titans was in 2003, when he played in all 16 games (starting two) with 55 tackles, 18 assists, two interceptions, 1.5 sacks, one touchdown and one safety.
In 2005, he registered 15 special teams tackles. Dallas Cowboys
On March 20, 2006, he was signed as a free agent by the Dallas Cowboys, to improve the depth at linebacker and on special teams. During training camp he suffered a compound fracture of his right thumb, but only missed 10 days.
He was released on September 2.
Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts signed him on September 4, 2006. Foreign the Colts, he played in every game that season, totaling 16 tackles, five assists and one interception.
Boiman re-signed with the Colts with a one-year contract in April 2007. He played in every game in 2007, including seven starts.
He totaled 34 tackles, 21 assists and two interceptions.
Philadelphia Eagles
On March 24, 2008, he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent. He was cut on August 31. Kansas City Chiefs
Boiman was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs on October 15, 2008.
He played in 11 games for the Chiefs, starting nine with 51 tackles and 17 assists.
Tennessee Titans (second stint)
On August 11, 2009, he was signed by the Tennessee Titans as a free agent. He was cut on September 5.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Boiman was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 24, 2009. He played in six games and totaled four assists and no tackles.
Detroit Lions
On August 30, 2010, he was signed as a free agent by the Detroit Lions.

Boiman now works for Westwood One as a color analyst for college football games and as a sideline reporter for NFL games. He also works as a color analyst for ESPN3 and British Broadcasting Corporation television and radio.
In the summer of 2011 it was announced that he would be an analyst for the Sky Sports network in the United Kingdom.
He was joined by Nick Ferguson and two other English analysts. In the fall of 2011, he was appointed a trustee of Green Township, located on the west side of Cincinnati in Hamilton County, replacing a member who had stepped down to take another position in Hamilton County.
Is currently the full-time radio personality from 9:00 p.m. to midnight on 700 wlw.
