Rod Campbell was born on the 5th of May in Scotland. He was the son of Charles Edward who was a carpenter and Isabella who was a homemaker (maiden name is Munro) Campbell.

Rod graduated from University College of Rhodesia and Nyasaland (now University of Zimbabwe) where he's got the Bachelor of Science in 1966, he became a Master of Philosophy in 1968 then he attended University College of Cardiff during the years 1968-1969 and he studied at University of Nottingham where he's got the Doctor of Philosophy in 1971.
Career
Rod worked as a painter during the years 1972-1981 and as a free-lance artist beginning from 1981.
