Admitted to New York bar, 1897, and began practice at Syracuse as member Matson & Kennedy. Firm moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, 1901. Member Wyoming House of Representatives, 1903-1905.

Appointed judge 1st Judicial District of Wyoming, by Governor Bryant B. Brooks and elected to same office, 1906, for term of 6 years.

Again member Matson & Kennedy, 1913-1921, alone, 1921-1928. Member Matson & Swainson, since 1928.

Alternate delegate from New York to Republican National Convention, 1900, delegate at large from Wyoming, 1924. Vice-president and chairman for Wyoming, National Hoover-Curtis Lawyers Association, 1928.

Appointed commissioner of United States, to International Exposition, at Seville, Spain, 1926.

Trustee Wyoming State University, 1922-1923.
