Ever since Maffia was small, she was interested in television, and celebrities. She did her first play in high school, playing one of the Von Trapp family members in The Sound of Music. Maffia began her official acting career in Office-Broadway and Office-Office-Broadway productions.
In 1994 she played Carmen in director Ron Howard"s film The Paper.
Soon after, she landed a role on the television series Chicago Hope. Maffia"s television career continued as she played "Grace Alvarez," the forensic pathologist for the Violent Crimes Task Force for four seasons on National Broadcasting Company"s Profiler.
She has had guest-star and recurring roles on shows such as Emergency, The West Wing, and Law & Order. Her most widely seen performances may be playing Seattle attorney Catherine Alvarez in the film Disclosure (1994), starring Michael Douglas and Demi Moore.
She followed this up with a series of performances as Vanessa Galiano in the television series, Law & Order and as Judge Victoria Peyton on American Broadcasting Company"s Boston Legal.
Since 2003 Maffia has appeared as Liz Cruz on the Forex Network series Nip/Tuck, the anesthesiologist colleague of two dysfunctional plastic surgeons. Maffia and Julian McMahon worked on the television show Profiler. Maffia is a 1973 graduate of Saint Michael Academy (New York City).
In April 2013, Entertainment Weekley announced that Maffia will join Pretty Little Liars in season four.
Her character, Linda Tanner, is a state investigator and the co-worker of Gabriel Holbrook (Sean Faris).
