Earning a track & field scholarship to the College of William & Mary, he earned a Bachelor of Science at the Public Ivy.
He started his film career early in his life, directing music videos as a teen in his home town of Nashville, Tennessee. He is best known for co-founding Platinum Atlantic, a stable of original content developers and producers, in Los Angeles and his documentary Driven. Dent commented that the sport was "just a means to an end" as his true passion was film.
Between 2004-2007 Dent worked as an actor, appearing in Beneath the Blue, and winning Best Overall Actor at the 2006 AMTC Winter Convention.
In 2010, Dent made his directing debut with the music video for Billboard Top 40 artist and Reality television Star Jessie James Decker. In his career so far, Dent has directed for artists including Lauren Francesca, Raquel Castro, Big Brother"s GinaMarie Zimmerman and Paola Shea, One Life to Live"s Jessica Morris, Thomas Dale, Alyssa Bonagura, Dreya Weber, The Kin, and Dustin Tavella.
In 2012 Dent co-founded Platinum Atlanticâ„¢, a film production company in Los Angeles, California. Best known for his documentary Driven, concerning the empowerment of women, the piece features female entertainers in various stages of their careers and lives, and attempts to explore their struggles as women in their selected fields.
The Step Up Women"s Network called Driven "the new doc you need to see", and that the film "empowers women.. to pursue seemingly impossible dreams".
Dent acknowledged how critical he feels Driven"s message is for today"s audience. "we wanted to tell a story that would attempt to inspire those who do so much to inspire us - women.".
