Career
Born in Thurles, County, Maher first excelled at hurling in his youth. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2014 Waterford Crystal Cup.
At club level Maher is a one-time list with.
Maher"s brother, Pádraic, is an All-Ireland medallist with. Club Maher was still eligible for the minor grade when he was added to the senior panel of the team in 2012.
Maher later claimed a on the field of play when he was introduced as a substitute during a thrilling 1-21 to 1-16 defeat of De Louisiana Salle in one of the games of the year. After surrendering their titles the following year, were back in the final again in 2014.
