Career
Born 1943 in Western Australia. Oxford University 1962-1966 (Bachelor Honours Modern Languages). Taught Italian in Naples 1964-1965.
In 1969 he joined the Australian Diplomatic Service and had overseas postings in Ghana, South of Korea, Egypt and Switzerland (Geneva).
From 1986 to 1988 he was Australian ambassador to Iraq and from 1997 to 2001 was ambassador to Italy.
