Career
She was also President of the College of Occupational Therapists from 2003 to 2008. On 30 July 1999 she was created a life peer with the title Baroness Wilkins, of Chesham Bois in the County of Buckinghamshire. She is currently Treasurer of the Learning Disability All-party Group, and Vice-Chair of the Disability, Deafness, and Continence Care All-party Groups.
She has sat on the Lords backbench Joint committees on the draft mental incapacity bill 2003-2004 and the draft disability discrimination bill 2004.
She lists her political interests as disability, housing, international development, and energy conservation.
