Prosecuting attorney Jasper County, Iowa, 1911-1915. Assistant attorney general of Iowa, 1916. United States district attorney for Southern District of Iowa, by appointment of President Coolidge, May 17, 1924-1932.
Prosecuted Keith Collins and Fred Poffenbarger for $2,000,000 rail robbery, at Council Bluffs, Iowa, and secured conviction, 1925. Prosecuted case of the United States versus Kentucky Distilleries & Warehouse Company et al., in the United States Court, at Des Moines—12 defendants convicted and sentenced to serve 16 months in Federal Prison at Leavenworth, and tax of $46,816 collected from the distillery. Member Iowa State Senate, 29th District, 1939-1947.
