1925-1929 ballet soloist at Theaters in Kharkov and Kiev. Since 1929 choreographer and producer at Saratov and Astrakhan. 1932-1934 Assistant Producer, then choreographer, Leningrad Kirov Theater of Opera and Ballet.
1936-1956 choreographer, Bolshoy Theater, Moscow. For several years Director, and Artistic Director, Bolshoy School of Choreography. Headed delegate of Soviet classical ballet-dancers to 1st World Festival of Youth and Students (Prague, 1947) and 2nd Festival (Budapest, 1949).
Produced following ballets: Asafiev’s ‘‘Bakhchisaraysky fontan” (The Fountain of Bakhchisaray) (1934). L. Minkus’ “Don Kykhot” (Don Quixote). Asafiev’s “Kavkazsky plennik” (Prisoner in the Caucasus) (1938).
Gliere’s “Medny vsadnik” (The Bronze Horseman) and “Krasny mak” (The Red Poppy) (1949). Glinka’s “Ruslan i Lyudmila” (Ruslan and Ludmilla) (1937). Solovev-Sedoy’s “Taras Bulba”.
Bizet’s “Carmen”; Asafiev’s “Baryshnya-krestyanka” (The Well-born Peasant Girl). Prokofiev’s “Zolushka” (Cinderella) (1941-1945), etc.
