Career
On a General Electric Company scholarship he went to University College London in London, where he gained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Unilever from 1974 to 2001. He became Chairman of Thus PLC
GKN
He became Chairman of GKN on 20 May 2004.
He was replaced as Chairman of GKN by Michael Turner on 3 May 2012.
