Self-taught from a young age, he learnt by playing along to records in his family home. He moved to New York in his early 20"s, where he met Ron Saint Germaine a highly established producer who has worked with the likes of Muse, Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and many more notable artists. To this day they remain close friends.
Roy Martin has been endorsed by Paiste, cymbals for many years.
When playing with Barcley James Harvest in Switzerland, Roy met up with some people from Paiste. They made him an "unexpected endorsement offer" and "put in a lot of work" and created a new Paiste Ad Campaign involving him on the internet, posters, official website et cetera
His influences include Ian Paice, Andy Newmark, Jeff Porcaro and Steve Gadd. Blame lieutenant on the Bellboy End of the Orange Season Don"t Tell Mom the Babysitter"s Dead And Now.
