Hammonds, Roy Glenn was born on September 11, 1920 in Milan, Gibon County, Tennessee. Son of Roy Dean and Vera Malvina (Mosier) H. The family moved to Nashville in the early 1920's. Roy Dean was employed by the US Postal Service as a clerk on the mail trains between Nashville and Atlanta, so had steady employment throughout the great recession. Roy Glenn attended Vanderbilt University, receiving both undergraduate and medical degrees after four years of study, due to the acceleration of the program during wartime (World War II).
