Served 1939-1945 war with Mediterranean Fleet in Home Waters and with British Pacific Fleet in South.E. Asia and Pacific. Renounced right of succession to the Thrones of Greece and Denmark and was naturalized a British subject 1947, adopting the surname of Mountbatten. Married 20 November 1947 Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth (now Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II), elder daughter of Her Majesty King George VI.
