He graduated from the National School of Architecture of the University of Brasil, currently Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), in 1955. At that time, he attended Ivan Serpa's classes (1923-1973) in the painting course of the Museum of Modern Art Rio de Janeiro (MAM/RJ).
Rubem Ludolf had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Galerie Lelong, New York. Simultaneously with his activity as an artist, Rubem Ludolf acted as an architect between 1954 and 1990 in the National Department of Roads (DNER), focusing mainly on landscaping.
Ludolf died in 2010, at the age of 78, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Rubem Ludolf participated in the Frente Group from 1955 onwards and joined the Concretism movement between 1956 and 1957.
