Career
Bundesliga side 1860 Munich. Born in Pakistan to a Nigerian father and an Austrian mother, Okotie spent the first four years of his life in the Spanish city of Barcelona. As a result of his multinational background he is eligible to represent three countries at national level, namely Austria, Nigeria and Pakistan.
Okotie identifies himself primarily as Austrian, stating that "I live there, it"s where I have my friends, and I think of myself as Austrian" in an interview with Fédération internationale de football association"s website.
His Austrian Bundesliga début for Austrian team FK Austria Wien was on 5 August 2007 in a game against archrivals Saskatchewan Rapid Wien (0–0). His first goal came on 23 February 2008, against Football Club Red Bulletin Salzburg (3–1) in the Austrian Bundesliga.
On 30 May 2010, he left Austria Wien and signed a three-year contract with German side 1. Football Club Nuremberg. After leaving Football Club Nuremberg, in 2011, for a deal at Sturm Graz, Rubin Okotie subsequently returned to his boyhood club, Austria Wien, on 18 June 2013.
After a loan spell at the Danish side SønderjyskE, Okotie joined 1860 Munich on 2 July 2014, signed a two-year contract.
He scored twice at the latter tournament, helping his side reach the semi-finals. In the Union of European Football Associations Euro 2016 qualifier, which Austria finished in first place, he scored the deciding goals against Russia and Montenegro.
