Pleasant, Ruffin Golson was born on June 2, 1871 in Shiloh, Louisiana, United States. Son of Benjamin Franklin and Martha Washington (Duty) Pleasant.

Education

Ruston College, 1885. Mount Lebanon College, Louisiana, 1887-1888 and 1888-1889. Louisiana State University, 1890-1894.

Studied law Harvard and Yale.

Career

Colonel 1st Louisiana Regiment Infantry, United States Volumes, Spanish-American War, 1898. Began practice, Shreveport, Louisiana, 1899. City attorney, Shreveport, 1902-1908.

Assistant attorney general, Louisiana, 1911-1912. Attorney general, June 1, 1912-1916. Governor of Louisiana, term 1916-1920.
