Career
This native of Utica, New York, served with the 14th New York Infantry from 1861 until 1862 and later as a major and colonel with the 117th. He received his appointment as brevet brigadier general dated to January 15, 1865. After the war, he ran a clothing business and later a hardware store.
In 1900, he returned to Utica and in 1900 was appointed postmaster.
He had been a Republican.
