Career

Hugh L. McCluny, of Knoxville, Tennessee. Married second, Fannie, daughter Richard Fell, Maryland, December 31, 1866.

Practiced law, Shelby Company, 1857.

Mustered in as captain Company C, 101st Alabama Infantry, Forney’s brigade, June, 1861. Assigned to General Wheeler’s cavalry, 1863, and commanded a scouting party.

After war practiced at Marion until 1868. At Columbiana, 5 years.

Then went to Helena. Elected to state senate, 1872.

Re-elected, 1876 (president of senate). Governor, 1878-1880, 1880-1882. Became probate judge, Shelby Company.

Removed to Birmingham later.

President Central Iron Works, Helena, 1873-1891. Local attorney L. & North. Railway.

Engaged in cotton planting and developing iron mine in northern Alabama Address: Woodlawn, Alabama.
