Clay brigade,” April, 1861, to protect City of Washington, was a member of the brigade. Chairman Republican State Committee of Ohio, 1865-1866.
Candidate of Liberal (Greeley) party for Congress, 1872. Mayor Sandusky, 1879-1881. In 1852 was sued for $6,000 damages in the United States court for professional services as a lawyer in defending 6 slaves, escaping to Canada, under the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850.
