Russell M. Cluff

Background

Russell Cluff was born on April 27, 1946 in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Son of Halver J. and Margaret (maiden name: Brown) Cluff.

Education

Cluff graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in 1972 and with a M.A. in 1974. Then he gained a Ph.D from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1978.

Career

Cluff was an instructor in Spanish at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah from 1968 till 1972. From 1978 till 1981 he worked as an assistant professor of Spanish at the University of Minnesota, Morris. Then he held the same position at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana between 1981 and 1983. From 1983 til 1990 he was an associate professor at Brigham Young University, since 1990 - a professor of Spanish. In 1988 he worked as a lecturer at the University of Kansas. Between 1993 and 1996 he served as a coordinator of Latin American studies at David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies, and was a director of study abroad programs in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
