The firm was founded by Russell E. Watson in New Brunswick in 1909. In 1918 he was joined in the practice by his brother, A. Dudley Watson, and the firm became known as R.E. & A.D. Watson. In 1950, Edward L. Webster joined the firm as an associate, later becoming a partner.
From 1971 until 1987, the firm practiced under the name of Watson & Webster. The seven present partners come from large firm, corporate law department and small firm backgrounds. From the time of its inception, the firm has served as litigation and corporate counsel for a variety of local and national businesses and common carriers, as well as providing representation for various governmental, educational and religious entities and individual clients.
The firm specializes in bringing and responding to emergent matters on behalf of its clients. The firm participates in ADR (Alternate Dispute Resolution) in an effort to reduce the cost of litigation for its clients.
