Jenny Liddell Somerville was played in the film Chariot of Fire (1981) by actress Cheryl Campbell. The “real Jenny” appeared in the scene where Eric Liddell (played by Ian Charleson) was preaching fro Isaiah. Here, in the third volume of Russ Ramsey’s trilogy, The Lady, Jenny, remembers the dreams of her Olympic champion and missionary brother, Eric Liddell. A Lady, A Peacemaker takes a bold page from Ancient Greece and from the Scriptures. Like the Greeks, Russ Ramsey thinks the Olympic Games could help forge truces in world conflicts. Like Eric Liddell, Russ believes the Olympic athletes, themselves, could become that force for permanent and enduring world disarmament. Russ’ fictional Angela moves to the highest halls of government after her Olympic competition days. She cuts across alliances, fears, and armament networks to wage proactive peace though the Olympic stars in the U.S.A. and China. Because they understand competition and commitment, they create the better world. As the president of the United States, and worried over the deteriorating conflict between Russia and China, Angela takes changes men would not dare. With minimum, but proper escort, she flies deep into the drawn battle lines and forces the two giant combatants to come together for peace talks. Though the encounter is fictional, much of the content in this fast reading book is based on facts with many well known national and international individuals well described in their respective roles.
