Although food processing is the world's largest industry, with output valued at END 1,500 billion, relatively little foreign direct investment goes into this industry in developing countries. This study explores the reasons behind this paucity. focusing on the food industry in China and India, the author discusses the possibilities for increased investment. She also examines specific activities within the industry that may be of particular interest to potential foreign investors.
