He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Houston College Classic in 2009. He was also named to the All-Tournament Team of the 2009 Conference United States of America Baseball Tournament. The Baltimore Orioles drafted Berry in the ninth round of the 2009 MLB Draft, one pick after college teammate Brock Holt.
He pitched for the Delmarva Shorebirds in 2010.
He was considered one of the Orioles" best prospects.
