Career
He most recently played with the Miami RedHawks men"s ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association National Collegiate Hockey Conference. McKay played junior hockey with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL), where he was awarded for his outstanding play when he was named the 2012-2013 USHL Goaltender of the Year (shared with Zane Gothberg). As a freshman, McKay led all Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) goaltenders (second in the National Collegiate Athletic Association) in posting a 1.39 goals against average and a.946 save percentage during the 2012-2013 season.
He was recognized for his outstanding play when he was named to the CCHA All-Rookie Team.
Nearly two months later, head coach Enrico Blasi revealed that McKay had been suspended from the team for the rest of the season but did not give a specific reason for the suspension. With the 2015-2016 campaign being McKay"s senior season and final year of eligibility, it meant the end of his collegiate career.
