Studied at Nesvizh Teachers’ Training Seminary.
1919-1920 did underground Party work and fought with partisans. 1920-1928 served in Red Army, after which he became a rural newspaper correspondent. Active member, Belorussian Association of Proletarian Writers.
1941-1943 lived in Minsk during the German occupation, then joined partisans. Wrote on such subjects as the 1905 Revo! in Belorussian, the Civil War and the “internal emigration” in Belorussian lit during the 1920’son
