Ryichiro Enomoto was born in 1894.
After he graduated from Naval Engineering School, he joined the Navy. He was commissioned by the Navy to study at Kyushu University and in London, doing research work on fuel problems, especially in oil and in coal liquefaction. Retired from the Navy as vice-admiral (1945). He established the Japan Gas-Chemical Industries, Inc. (1951), pioneering in Japan in the utilization of natural gas into chemical products. Also, he made and inspection tour of the United States and Europe (1959).
