Achievements include holding all-time record for home-runs in professional baseball, 868 in Japan League; lead Japan league in Homeruns (15 times), Reserve Bank of India (13 Times), Batting Avg. (twice); nine Most Valuable Player awards, 18 All-Star Game appearances; manager inaugural World Baseball Classic Champions, 2006. Named to Japanese Hall of Fame, 1994.
